Ben Franklin said “Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.”

Essentially the Patriot Act allows Americans to give up their Liberty for Safety. When Bush says his job is to protect Americans, he is also taking away many of those rights that “can hurt you”.

Judge Andrew Napolitano argues this exact point when he speaks about the Patriot Act. Amazingly this video aired on Fox News.

Being in a free society should come with a degree of risk. The notion that we need to be protected from any and all “terrorist” is a power grab by those in charge.

I watched Beauty and the Beast with my Daughter today and I just had to laugh when Gaston seeing that the Beast was real decided to gather the villagers to his cause of killing the beast by saying the Beast will kill your children and come after you. Gaston then said to Belle, “You are with us or against us” and throws Belle in the basement of her house as the angry mob goes after the Beast. Did Bush take a cue from Gaston ?
