The I’m a Mac and I’m a PC commercial is no more. The commercials put Mac guy Justin Long and PC guy John Hodgemen side by side comparing features. The aim was to show that Macs are better, however when a inanimate object is personified things are different.

Folks like me gravitated more to the John Hodgeman character who was much more likable than the spaz Mac guy. Nobody likes a know it all, especially saying that Apple computers are better at this and that etc. The arguments were weak too. The commercial kept pressing that the PC was better at numbers, while the Mac was better at making movies and graphics. That does not really change attitudes, it only reinforces stereotypes. It does not get folks more excited to switch to a Mac.

Meanwhile, I’m switching to Ubuntu Linux.

Bottom ine, the Justin Long Mac guy was not likable while John Hodgeman was hilarious.
