Path to 9/11: Should it be Accurate?
And if they didn’t intend to make it historically accurate to make sure
that viewers understood that it was not intended to be historically accurate but a fictional portrayal. So we made two requests: One is having historians review it for accuracy if you’re going to broadcast it. And if you’re unwilling to do that, inform the viewers that it’s not historically accurate. That’s not censorship, that’s common sense.

In 2003 there was a big stink about a Reagan docudrama that CBS ended up dropping. The docudrama took the same liberties that the “Path to 9/11″ docudrama allegedly takes with Clinton and dealing with Osama bin Laden. The point is that docudramas should make every effort to portray events as accurately as possible. Taking liberty with events and not portraying them accurately is a disservice to the American public. Plus, very few will ever try to get to the real truth. Right Wingers were completely justified then in demanding a fair portrayal of Reagan just as Left Wingers are justified in demanding the same for Clinton.
