Google Maps on Your Blog

August 7th, 2006

Wikimapia is a nice tool that combines a Wiki with Google Maps. You can easily annotate the map highlighting places and adding notes wherever you like.

To add the map click on WikiMapia a drop down shows some options. Click on “Map on You Page”.

A resizable box appears with the code for that section you want to highlight. You can resize the box and move it to the exact area you want in your map. The highlighting may get lost when there are so many notes on one area. But look for the dotted line similar to what you see in Photoshop.

Here is a sample that I used to highlight Syracuse University and the Newhouse School.
