Donks, Boxes and Bubbles

Donks, boxes and Bubbles are ways to describe hi-riser cars by their different shapes. The cars need to be jacked up to sport 24″ and 26″ rims. The bleeding edge is now sporting 28″ rims so your Dubs are so played, you might as well save up for Treys when they come out because it won’t be long.
To create these Donks Boxes and Bubbles you need to use specific types of suspension that borrow tehniques from monster trucks. This creates a higher stance that allows the cars to accept enormously larger rims. But the stance is not the key for all of these cars. The difference is what type of car you use as your high riser. That Chevy Impala is considered a Bubble in the land of 24+ inch rims.
The stance is the key to making a true hi-riser. Boxes and Bubbles maintain a level stance after all the modifications are complete. The Donks are another story. Donks are essentially the king of this crew of creations. History has supported the fact that kings have a tendency to be, well, at least a little arrogant. Donks hold true to this by setting the suspension slightly lower in the rear to keep the nose in the air to command a little more respect.

Sooooooo entirely lame! Great Britian gets a spectacular and diverse cottage sportscar industry and we get friggen’ donks. God, I hate our culture sometimes. [shakes head]

you are so far off base it’s not funny . A donk is a pre 78 impala or caprice , a box is 79-early 90’s caprice and a bubble rounded version of the caprice .

nothing to do with the stance . Rides magazine is trying to put a hipster spin on it . donk box and bubble just references to the shape of the car and nothing else . You either have a suspension done right or the butt of your car sits low because a shadetree mechanic hooked it up. Variant ghetto b.s. that you guys are talking about . Hotrodding , lowriding , drag racing ….every car has a style for the generation that rides it . Just because you have a honda with 20″ of extra plastic sticking off of the bumper means that the guy whose car is lifted 20″ higher is ghetto???? Open your eyes and get a Donk so you can play both sides and talk bad about 57 chevy drivers .

ICOMPLETELY AGREE WITH TOMMY. YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT RIDING DONK, BOX, OR BUBBLE BUT IF SOMEONE ROLLED UP WITH A CIVIC WITH 20INCH RIMS, LOWERED TO THE GROUND WITH AIR SUSPENSION AND FIBERGLASS EVERYWHERE IT WOULD BE THE BEST THING SINCE SLICED BREAD, BUT IF SOMEONE RAISED THE SUSPENSION AND PUT 24′S OR BIGGER THEN ITS GHETTO FABULOUS.
