I’ve been using Delicious links for a while. Delicious was recently bought by Yahoo as part of their “Buying the cool stuff” rampage. Just a few days after the announcement, I have ntoiced some significant problems with Delicious that I never encountered before. Obviously, they have not merged into the Yahoo! network, but the buyout couldn’t have come at a better time. This latest round of hiccups with the Delicious website aren’t explained beyond a few entries into the Delicious weblog

I have been getting used to posting my bookmarks to this centralized system for a while. I would previously email myself a link to remember, but Delcious helps me keep better track of my bookmarks.

The addicting aspect of Delicious are the popular and latest links pages. With the latest links you can see what people are bookmarking in almost real time. It is much like peering into a stream of links that are being added by any number of users. It is addicting because you can usualy pick out a link that you will find interesting. The community of users is very good at posting some very useful links. I was able to get some great links related to Ruby on Rails, PHP, Entrepreneurship, etc. from this method alone. The popular links give you a good sense of what sites people are looking at much link a guide to “what’s hot. The Sushi video that I posted earlier was found through the Delicious popular section.

I sure hope that Delicious gets their infrastructure straightened out soon, I did not realize how much I need it now that it is gone.
